Here are a few tips to follow when you are going to try to paint your house.
First make sure this is a project you are ready to tackle. Painting your home can be a very expensive project if you do not know what you are doing. For example if you rent a portable paint sprayer and proceed to paint your house, but forget to have your neighbors move their cars away.
These steps for painting your home are for both hand painting and using a paint sprayer.
- Picking out the color. Some HOA's will only allow certain colors, you may want to check this out.
- Prepping the home for paint. Pressure washing, caulking, ect... This can be a time consuming part of the project if you do not know what you are doing. If you are pressure washing the house make sure not to get the wand to close to the house as you can damage the siding with the pressure washer.
- Masking off the areas of the house and surrounding areas. This is very important, especially if you are going to spray the house. If you spray on a day that has just a little bit of wind you will be getting over spray on everything around you...
- And finally painting the home. Take your time, when you are done remember this is the finished look. You do not runs in the paint.
