Electrical contractors or an electrician is a person that works on the electrical circuits of a home or a building. Usually only the circuits that are above 110 volts, a Low Voltage electrician works on data lines, alarm systems, phone lines, cable tv or stereo speakers that kind of wiring is low voltage. electrical contractors can also work on the low voltage by what their licencing says but they are usually not up to date on the technology. 

A electrician will need to go to schooling for a set amount of time plus on the job time to become a journeyman electrician.
